A learning inspectorate: listening, learning and changing together. Education is changing and so are we. Inspecting self-evaluation: a new approach. During 2019-2020 we’ll be piloting a new approach to self-evaluation in all maintained schools and pupil referral units. The Adult Learning Inspectorate was set up under the provisions of the Learning and Skills Act 2000, and began work in April 2001, taking over the duties of the Training Standards Council. Its remit was to promote high quality in the provision of adult and lifelong learning.
